Well although the rain did not arrive in the biblical proportions the met office was warning of there was enough to provoke a decent rise on the river which will probably continue throughout the day and will possibly mean the end of the season for the lowest beats. Have to say its as dirty as I have ever seen it but should leave the river in a cleaner state for at least a while.
One fish yesterday afternoon;
Bigsweir: now on 88 with 3 on monday. Still catching a few fresh grilse
Redbrook: 13lb cock fish for Simon Mclucas from Old Crow crib yesterday.
Dear WSA Member,
Considerable debate took place at the Wye local Fishery Group {WLFG}
meeting on 1st October in response to WSA raising the issue of the
poor behaviour of navigators on the river. One of our members, a beat owner,
has engaged in a long running discussion with EA about how to improve the
behaviour of the canoeing public. We believe the levels of leisure use by
canoes on the river have reached such a volume there is a need for more robust
regulation and enforcement.
In order that a clear picture of the
situation can emerge and provide EA with evidence to take appropriate action we
are asking our members to report ALL incidents of navigation related trespass and
bad behaviour, as they happen, throughout the year so that we along with the
other angling bodies on the river can compile, co-ordinate and provide such an evidence base.
This is very
important if we are to encourage positive action by EA.
We ask that you
supply as much information as you can (time, date, location, how many people
involved, registration number and name of hire company of boats, what was happening,
etc) along with photographs if possible and send to WSA at enquiries@wyesalmon.com
Thank you for
your support
Stuart Smith
