River rising now on beats from the Ithon downstream.  Ithon and Irfon are the main contributors on upper beats with plenty of water downstream too.   If forecast is right there is much more to come over the weekend.   Fish will then surely  leave the bottom river where Wyesham continue to raise the total almost single handed.

Wyesham: 3 this morning 10lbs, 16lbs and one of 19lb which was a first fish on the fly for John Mansell.

However someone did buck the trend despite yesterdays wind and rain with a fish to show for it. Roy Cartwright fished the Golden Mile and recorded a fish of 10lbs on a Cascade.

A letter to MP Kirsty Williams regarding the Lynfi pollution.

Reading it I have to say I'm not very hopeful of a result.  While aware of the facts that there needs to be good evidence to present a case with any realisation of a prosecution with a good outcome it seems to me that reaction by NRW was way too slow and by the time they arrived the flush of pollution had washed away leaving the evidence of fish and invertebrate deaths behind but perhaps not enough evidence to prosecute.

Dear Kirsty,

Apologies for the delay in our response on this issue.  This was a really damaging pollution incident and we are treating it very seriously.  We have undertaken a thorough investigation, and are currently reviewing the evidence with our legal team.  However, there are still some lines of inquiry being followed so it is currently a live investigation and it is difficult to release much detail.  We will also review our response to the incident, and we are working with operators in the catchment to minimise the risk of future incidents.

Once we have taken a decision on the next steps we will communicate more widely.

If you would like any more information please feel free to call me on 07768173460.

Best regards,

Martin
