Few heavy showers around but had little or no effect on levels and conditions emain much the same.
No new fish reported yesterday but I note WUF have five fish listed for Coedithiel -no other detail.  Will try and find out.

Still reports of fish entering the river in various stages of condition but very reluctant to take, unlike one has to say the river Spey, which despite being lightly fish has produced great sport for those able to fish it.  One rod taking ten fish for the day. What a different scenario here on the Wye..  See the link below.

All we can hope for is some proper rain, which looks unlikely, to sweep away all the crap on the bottom and the algae and let the fish run throughout the river then we shall really see how many there are.   Not a fish above Luggs Mouth by mid June -who would have though this would ever happen.

Here in contrast is the Latest from the EA.

I found this section very heartening.  If only it were true.
What else is the Environment Agency doing to help salmon stocks?
Reducing the taking of salmon is only one part of the Environment Agency’s larger national programme to protect salmon stocks. Actions taken by the Environment Agency and its partners that contribute to protecting salmon stocks include removing barriers, improving water quality, minimising predation and implementing better agricultural practices and addressing unsustainable water abstractions.

Another old picture-  how it used to be.   Interesting how different the bodyshape and weights are of the two biggest fish

And another one. Gillie Ivor Williams  49 and 44lbs
