Good weather conditions and river improving all the time on the upper and middle beats as far as the Lugg. Today must be the day surely. Goin piking myself though.!!
LATEST. As of 6.30pm still no reports of our first springer. Starting to get a little worrying with the river for many in good condition today especially on upper beats.
Had a good view of 400yards of excellent water on a beat below Glasbury. saw nothing apart from canoeists, Goosanders and Cormorants. No pike either for that matter.!
Once one springer comes along no doubt others will follow in quick succession-won't they.
Mention of the RWGA cup included in the Newsletter below.

Anglers taking
action to stop spread of 'Invasives'
Anglers are
heeding the 'Check, Clean, Dry' warnings and taking steps to stop the
spread of invasive species (such as the quagga mussel, pictured) which pose
a threat to fish stocks and aquatic environments. Research conducted by the
Angling Trust showed that almost half of anglers surveyed cleaned and dried
equipment every time they returned from fishing – compared to just 21% five
years ago.

MPs back motion
over 'unfair' bass fishing
MPs have
backed a motion highlighting the unfairness of current EU restrictions on
recreational sea bass fishing following a three-hour backbench debate in
the House of Commons. The motion also claimed the restrictions failed to
address the real threat to the future viability of UK sea bass stocks. In
response, the government has agreed to work with recreational angling organisations,
including the Angling Trust, on a long term management plan for bass.

king of the Water Park!
Six 'Let's Go
Family Fishing' sessions are due to be held at Kingsbury Water Park this
year - thanks to the excellent partnership between the Park Ranger Dan
Martin and the Angling Trust's Regional Officer Dave Evans.
Dave helped
Dan successfully apply for an Angling Improvement Fund grant to complete
his Level 1 Coaching Course and has advised him on his application for

Legal action
over Scottish Water acid spill
Fish legal
has initiated legal proceedings against Scottish Water for negligently
causing 12,000 litres of sulphuric acid to spill into the River Devon in
Clackmannanshire, killing an estimated 30,000 fish.

high quality wild brown trout fishery downstream of the Glendevon Water
Treatment plant was wiped out by the acid spill in 2011.

Fish Legal
forces action on the Clyde
After much
research, Fish Legal has shown Scottish Environment Protection Agency
(SEPA) that the Dalmarnock Water Treatment Works has been spilling sewage
into the Clyde on a regular basis and that this was a material cause of a
massive kill in July, 2013.
SEPA has
responded by giving Scottish Water notice to produce detailed proposals for
the modernisation of the plant with appropriate timescales.
