See below the latest from WUF regarding the Hay on Wye pollution.
No one knows the scale of it, the quantity mentioned was given by the Deputy director without any way of knowing the quantity discharged whatsoever.
The whole point is not so much the scale of this event but the fact it highlights what is going on virtually day in day out in various parts of the catchment and mostly it goes undetected.
I see he hopes it will bring it up on the NAs priority list. I doubt it -it never has in the last 15 years or so we have been highlighting this practice.
Why you have to ask is not not high on WUFs priority list. All they seem to want to do is dumb it down when with every breath they tell us what a good job they are doing to improve water quality
Quote from Deputy Director.
25,000m sounds like a lot (if that was the amount released) but it equates to about 15mins of the Wyes flow given the water height. Given mixing by the time it got to Letton it would have been diluted markedly.
Glad to hear it was being monitored and hopefully there is some comeback for DCWW. This event will certainly bring it up in the priority list for improvement.
Sorry to hear about the dead salmon, did you call it in? If it can be proven it was due to the pollution that also puts it up the priority list for action by EA.
