More sad news I heard yesterday was the passing of Ray Dobbins from Rhayader,one of the band of bailiffs led by Cliff Lloyd who patrolled the upper river beats and did a good job for the river.   Ray had not an easy job in Rhayader especially at spawning time when poaching was rife.  I often went with them on anti poaching patrols and they did a good job.  Where are their like now ??

Many of you I suspect saw the programe on TV last night regarding the latest investigation into the pollution of the Wye.    What a damning indictment it was of the Welsh Government and NRW seemingly unable or unwilling to grasp the seriousness of the situation, exemplified by the interview with Lesley Griffiths which was a complete shambles with no answers whatsoever.   She was always present for many years with WUF under the previous management.  She needs tolet someone more capable do the job  Not to mention the horrendous images inside the chicken sheds with the birds packed in like sardines and the processing of hundreds of dead birds carcases for consumption.
