Nothing new on the salmon from it seems. River continues to fall away.

The scale of the Lynfi pollution now becomes clear with a total fish kill from the pollution source
downstream to the Wye confluence.   Take heart though NRW Officers are now on the job and no doubt the source will be found and prosecutions will follow.   Take any bets anyone???

Went fishing this morning on the Wye below Hereford.  Sad to see the river so low and the bed covered with a brown algae almost like sewage fungus..   Where there were perhaps thirty swans before on a  ford full of ranunculus there was no weed whatsoever  and just two listless swans. Saddest sight was to see a dead swan on the opposite bank with its partner for life trying to rouse it though it looked as though it had been dead for some time. Rumour is manys swans and cygnets have suffered the same fate, You would think wouldn't you that the RSPB would be up in arms about this. Nary a whisper from them as far as I know.

Seems to that the European immigrants are running riot below Luggs mouth poaching the stocks of chub, barbel and pike to sell or eat.   Been several nasty stand offs with anglers and gillies alike and considerable Police involvement.

Only a few canoeist about and I did manage a few fish.  Half a dozen chub up to about 4lbs and a barbel of about 7/ 8 pounds, and  I had almost forgotten how well they can fight.  On a bright note all the fish were in good condition.   Once one of the famous salmon beats on the Wye  I saw absolutely no sign of one.

Might take it up seriously again - bugger all else to fish for up here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
