Very quiet still.  No further fish reports.  Still fish on lower river but seemingly unwilling to take under the present conditions.   A touch of water here and there but nothing that's going to shift the severe blanket weed sludge coating much of the river.  Not much in the way of ranunculas weed probably blotted out by the blanket weed.

One this morning . 10lbs  Another for Geoff Handley.  Good numbers of fish seen running - going somewhere/or more likely nowhere?

Below is a useful Wye fly which has done well for me.   Give it a try sometime when we get back fishing.

Simple to tie;  Black body ribbed with gold holographic tinsel,  Mixed yellow and orange bucktail wing dressed long with three or four strands of yellow tinsel. Black head hackle, Jungle Cock cheeks.  Colours of the Willie Gunn really.  Works well on a tube too.

Those who go out with a trout fly rod know only too well that chub will take a dry fly if there is anything hatching.  Although the big shoals seem to have gone from the upper river there are still enough in many places to provide an alternative quarry(Coarse fishing starts on the 16th June before anyone takes me to task)
They are not fussy but they will test your approach and casting skills, described as they have in the past as being 'the fear fullest of fishes'.

Bellow is a good fish taken on a small dry fly -cant remember the weight.
