Uppermost river missed the rain but Ithon and Irfon show a moderate rise with considerable colour initiating a rise of about 7inches on the beats around Erwood, Glasbury which will obviously be felt downstream later. More storms are forecast for today.
Irfon from the road bridge, Builth. Not too high but dirty. Note the brood of Goosanders middle right. 8 in total. Reports from number of places re broods of these birds. Surely to god something, somebody bust do something to control numbers
River turned grey this afternoon with a lot of scum Looked very acidic.

There was a small rise at Bigswier yesterday evening where Geoff Handley scored again. Fishing a single handed fly rod armed with a Wye Thunder fly he took two nice fish of around 11 to 14lbs. He was also kept busy with good sized shad which seem to be there in big numbers -stuffed was the actual expression!!

It seems the farming lobby is too strong in Wales and environmental issues come low down on the list of priorities as far as WAG is concerned.

The Moustache seems to be the fashion then.
See below an unusual account of the history of the river Wye. Different its true but read it and all will be clear especially to those with some knowledge of what went on in the past on our river.
