Only a little snow overnight with still a few flakes blowing in the wind which mercifully has eased off somewhat.  Still blocked in, virtually no traffic on the road, no sign of a thaw yet either.  Wont be going anywhere.

Still time to enter the 'Where will the first fish come from and weight competition" with some flies on offer for the winner.

LATEST   NO REPORT OF ANY FISH ALTHOUGH I HEAR A FEW HARDY SOULS HAVE ATTEMPTED IT...

Saw this stupid question on that F F Forum from someone regarding the earlier start -earlier finish to the season argument on the Wye.
The huge difference is of course that kelts have already done the job they came for and most will die and not return.   October fish have still to take their chance and hopefully spawn successfully.   I know who W&S is and he should know better.

"I have no problem with either, but a question to those who wish to change the current season dates.

It's not ok to catch "unclean" fish on October 1st, but fine to catch lot's of "unclean" kelts in the unlikely pursuit of bumping into a springer on Jan 26th?

W&S"

Been sent an old picture which I had not seen before.  A fish taken from the Warren fishery, Hay on Wye in the 1920s by Josiah Greenaway.   48lbs

Teerry Ward fish from last season  for further encouragement -doesn't seem a lot in it.
