Riverfly Census 2016

We have now finished the spring sampling for this year’s Riverfly Census, which is focusing on the same 12 rivers from last year and a couple of new ones as well.  We are hopeful of being able to expand still further in the autumn sample, building slowly (as funding allows) to our eventual target of 24 rivers across England and Wales. Now comes the time-consuming part of the project as the Aquascience Ltd team set to work analyzing some 70 invertebrate samples down to species level.

Meanwhile, thanks again to everyone who has contributed to the Census costs. Members have donated more than £8,000 this year, which is a great effort on top of subscriptions and very much appreciated.
Summer Holidays

As usual, there will be no S&TC E News for August - but rest assured we shall have plenty to tell you in September!  In the meantime,  enjoy your holidays wherever you plan to take them.
