Another hot day forecast  as river temperatures climb.  Anything caught will need care in being returned so take extra time to make sure the fish has recovered properly.

9lb fish this morning from Whitney on a size 10 cascade to Terry Ward
Similar size fish apparently caught from the Rectory on fly?

Further to the picture below this incident was also reported to the EA by Stuart Smith WSA.  he received this response;

"
Thank you for the intel I will forward to Stuart Gambles enforcement team. We were aware of reports of poaching reported yesterday to our incident hotline for the Bigsweir area with useful intel which is being investigated and followed up. I am also aware that our officers reported this to the police

Please can I emphasise again really important that these reports are phoned in as soon as practically possible to the 24 hour incident hotline 0800 80 70 60 so we can respond immediately. Hopefully seen as useful I have attached to PDF docs giving advice on both illegal fishing and pollution reporting, could you share with your membership and if possible get copies to the fishing huts.

Regards

PLUS THIS'    EA Advice on reporting incidents

Reporting illegal fishing

We rely on the quality of intelligence you provide to stop environmental crime

What we need to know:
What date and time was the pollution or illegal activity observed?
Timely reporting is vital, please call us as soon as you can.
What is the precise location of the incident?
As much detail as possible so we can identify the exact site of the activity, this enables us to collect the evidence we need.
Do you know what type of pollution this is? What does it look or smell like?
The more information we have, the more likely we are to understand what type of pollution we are facing and what the correct response to your call will be.
What else have you observed?
Details such as the behaviour of fish, presence of a pipe discharging pollution, or activities that have occurred nearby may give us vital clues.
Who is causing the pollution?
Let us know if you can identify the polluter or the likely source of the pollution.
Has this happened before?
Identifying hot spots of illegal activity is important.
Are there any other witnesses?
Give us their names and contact details.

THEN HOLD YOUR BREATH!!!!!!!!!!!

This picture of two poachers fishing hand lines in Cadora pool yesterday evening,.
An approach received the usual ' F --off' response.

CONCERNS ARE ALSO BEING RAISED AGAIN REGARDING THE STATE OF THE LOWER RIVER WITH A CONSISTENT DARK PEATY STAIN AND ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE OPF CONTIUED DISCHARGE FROM SOMEWHERE IN REDBROOK AND WHICH IN SPITE OF REASSURANCES CONTINUES IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ON AN ALSMOST DAILY BASIS.
wE ARE OFTEN TOLD ABOUT IMPROVEMENTS IN WATER QUALITY BOTH ON THE UPPER AND LOWER RIVER.  IT'S NOT HAPPENING IS IT.

SEE LATER POST.
