Re the recent pollution incident at Hay the following comment was made by WUFs deputy Director;

"

This is the combined sewage overflow, when intake to the plant exceeds storage, similar problems happen at Hereford, Abergavenny, Leominster........all bigger towns.

If you get 10mm of rain in an hour on a town the size of Hay you will get around 25,000m3 of run off into the Sewers...10 Olympic swimming pools!

Like I said, everyone knows about it, no one does anything about it, so it's all right then apparently.
Rather makes other efforts at improving water quality somewhat redundant don't you think.
