River conditions remain much the same after what must have been one of the worst weather forecasts ever issued by the met. Office.  Dire warning of torrential downpours, thunder and lightening and flash floods simply failed to materialise.  With a dry week forecast for the coming week (wouldn;t hold your breath though) looks like the river will continue to fall away and beats below Ross most likely to score.

Fish still coming into the river in numbers with five caught at Bigswier today.  They are now on 97 for the season.  Well on the way to 1500+ this season surely.

John Hickman  12lbs.
Peter Hickman 10lbs
Steve Locke 12lbs
Kenny Powell 10lbs   All these fish on black F/C
John Madell 10lb on a Cascade.
All clean fish but not apparently sea liced.

2 from the Nyth  6 and 7 1/2lbs on fly/
2 from Wyesham 10 and 9lbs one each to fly and F/C
2 also or Nick Hope from Caerwnon,. 8 and 11lbs coloured fish on a Kynoch Killer
plug.

Two fish off Whitney court beat 3.  18 and 12 lbs to Mike Halstead guided by john Simmonds.
Silver stoat and Executioner

Saw this on another forum where anglers were asked to respond to a consultation for a Scottish Wild Fishery review
Reminded me of the last couple of NRW consultations and thought it very apt. For the amusement of Mr R.M in particular!!

In the beginning was the Wild Fisheries Review.

And then came the details.

And the details were without substance.

And darkness was upon the face of the anglers.

And they spoke among themselves, saying, "It is a crock of sh*t, and it stinketh."

And the anglers went unto their representatives and said, "It is a pail of dung, and none may abide the odour thereof."

And their representatives went unto their District Boards, saying, "It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it."

And the District Boards went unto the civil servants, saying, "It is a vessel of fertiliser, and none may abide it's strength."

And the civil servants spoke among themselves, saying one to another, "It contains that which aids growth, and it is very strong."

And the civil servants then went to the Environment Minister, saying unto her, "It promotes growth and is very powerful."

And the Environment Minister went unto the First Minister, saying unto her, "This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigour of our salmon, with powerful effects."

And the First Minister looked upon the Wild Fisheries Review, and saw that it was good.

And so the Wild Fisheries Review became Government Policy.

This is how sh*t happens

Many rivers in Ireland have been seeing increased catches of springers too.  Had the picture below sent to me by a friend who fishes over there and who I tie flies for (he only uses Cascades).  His best ever fly caught fish at 22lbs. |Yep on a single hook cascade. I think the river is the Slaney or perhaps the Nore.
