Just one fish reported so far today. A 7lb fish from Cadora Back on a f/c to Peter Wright..

See below the latest WUF courses. Rather more expensive than the WSA

Im sure the Tenkara courses will be popular. Not everyone was fortunate to fish with the garden cane and twine armed with a bent pin in their youth.  Come to think of it we were barblless even then!. As for the technique of wielding the stickleback net to good effect in the local park lake -lost in the mist's of time.

Upcoming Summer Events!

Wednesday, 24th June, 2015

There are still a few places left on the Tenkara Fishing Day on Sunday 5th July in the Lugg and Arrow catchment. This is a great opportunity for trout fishers to learn about this ancient yet increasingly popular fishing technique. The event will be run by Glyn Williams and other enthusiasts with support from Angus Campbell of Tenkara Centre UK, who will be supplying kit to anyone who hasn't got their own. More details can be found here.
Following the success of their Spring Spey Casting Course, AAPGAI-qualified instructors Illtyd Griffiths and Jonathan Morris are running another 2-day Spey casting course on the upper Wye on Saturday 22nd and Sunday August 23rd. The intensive course is limited to four anglers so plenty of individual instruction time is possible. Suitable tackle is available if required. For further details and how to book a place, please click here.
John Symonds, another qualified instructor, has five places left for a trout fishing workshop on the Ty-Newydd beat of the upper Wye on Sunday 2nd August. The event is in conjunction with and to raise funds for the Welsh International Rivers Flyfishing Team. The day covers all aspects of catching river trout with fishing under the supervision of a team member. The day costs £50 per person (not including lunch). For more details, please click here.
Also on Sunday 2nd August is the Herefordshire Country Fair at the Caradoc Estate, a few miles north (Upstream) of Ross-on-Wye. WUF will be hosting the Fishing section with displays from several organisations such as the Monnow Rivers Association and Wye Preservation Trust. There will also be casting demonstrations from qualified fly fishing instructors and fishing competitions of all kinds. The show has many other events and attractions and is great day out for the family - we hope to see you there!

The wonderful print of the wild trout of the Wye and Usk catchments.
Finally, Ross-on-Wye artist and fisherman, Humphrey Stanley, has painted this detailed study of six brown trout backed by a map of the Wye & Usk. It depicts the wide variety of markings found within the catchments. If you are interested in purchasing a limited edition print of this painting please visit his website and click on 'Prints for Sale'. The artist is kindly donating £10 from the purchase of each print to Wye & Usk Foundation river restoration projects.
All the best from WUF.

It has been suggested to me that I bring this to the attention of Wye salmon anglers, so I do so. It is addressed to the WUF Chairman.       See below.

Dear Elizabeth,

Your lack of response and engagement has prompted me to escalate my complaint to the Charities Commission beyond the Press Office.

I expect the Commission will advise you or the Board the reference number of the Formal Complaint now in place which, with some engagement on the WUF Board's part, could have been avoided.

I look forward to your response now regarding my Complaint against the Director of the Wye and Usk Foundation, and the date of the next Board Meeting.

Regards
Steve Roberts

You may, if you wish, let the Wye salmon fraternity know, via the blog of the RWGA, of my complaint to the WUF Board regarding the Director's (Mr Marsh Smith) personal slander voiced and publicised on the Charities Newsletter platform that ignored both EA and DEFRA notes issued previous to his slander. As the Board have not engaged with this complaint I have been forced to escalate it (made also to the Charities Commission Press Office) to a Formal Complaint with the Charities Commission. My MP Richard Benyon is copied to this situation as he has investigated the conduct of the EA regarding the reporting etc. of diseased salmon, and has asked to be kept informed.

Kind regards,
Steve R.
