Please join us for a meeting about tidal lagoons in the Severn Estuary

Saturday 9 May 10 am - 12.30pm. The Chase Hotel, Ross on Wye, HR9 5LH

All angling clubs, riparian owners, anglers, hoteliers, guides and anyone else concerned for the future of salmon, sea trout, shad, lamprey, eels and sea fish in the Severn Estuary are invited to a meeting at the Chase Hotel in Ross on Wye on Saturday 9 May from 10am to 12.30pm.  Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.
Please RSVP by replying to this message as space is limited.
The proposals for tidal lagoons could have a huge impact on salmon, other migratory fish and sea fish in the Severn estuary and the rivers that flow into it.  The Angling Trust & Fish Legal have been campaigning about the proposals in Swansea by making direct representations to the company involved on behalf of our member clubs on the rivers most directly affected, and through a national media campaign.
We have called this meeting to discuss the potential impact of the much larger lagoons proposed elsewhere in the Severn Estuary and to seek support for a major campaign to stop them damaging fish stocks.
The meeting will be chaired by Mark Lloyd, Chief Executive of the Angling Trust & Fish Legal and will include presentations from Fish Legal solicitors, angling clubs from South Wales and fisheries experts.
There is more information about the work we have been doing on the Swansea proposals on the Pontardawe and Swansea Angling Society page HERE.
There are two proposed lagoons near Cardiff and Newport and a recent government report indicated that these could lead to a collapse of fisheries. Read more HERE

We are aware that there are other proposals being brought forward elsewhere in the Country.  The work we do on the Severn, which is the most immediate threat, will help inform what looks likely to be a national campaign on this issue.
The meeting is open to members and non-members, but please remember to RSVP by replying to this message.
