A first fish from Luggs Mouth on Saturday apparently. 15lbs. on a spinner to Eddy Jefferson.
Below is a photograph taken this afternoon of a fish caught on a beat near Home Lacy.Weighed in at 10lbs. A dozen casts later it was followed by another fish of 12lbs or so.. The angler nor beat wishes for any publicity and I for one will respect their privacy.
Went down the river myself this afternoon for a last pike fishing effort. Put out a seven inch roach deadbait and after a while had a screaming run, Picked up the rod, struck and made contact. However it was not the pike I was expecting but this; A 2 1/2lb brownie with a roach the same size as it took.
We worry about Goosanders and cormorants but trout, perch, pike and sometimes chub all take juvenile fish on a daily basis.
On the way back took this picture of the swans grazing the winter crops in the riverside field. If you look closely you might just make out the black Australian swan species in the foreground towards the right
