Waste moved
away from river following Fish Legal intervention
After a
waste processing firm ceased trading, West Riding Anglers (WRA) became
concerned by runoff pollution from unspread waste on land near its
fishery at Harewood in Yorkshire. The EA confirmed that the Harewood
waste was one of 13 waste mounds together totalling around 13,000 tonnes.
After letters from Fish Legal and WRA, WRA is pleased that the EA
required the waste to be spread further away from the river, thus
reducing the risk of pollution.

loss of crucian carp habitat and the threat to the species through
hybridisation and competition, the National Crucian Conservation Project
(NCCP) was launched on 28th May at the Angling Trust Coarse Fish
Conference. The project now has its own web page where you can find out

Your Help
Needed to Design New Fishing Logbook App
Angling
Trust are working with Cefas and
the Environment Agency to develop a free electronic logbook (smartphone
app) which will help you record your fishing experiences. This five
minute questionnaire is your chance to help create a design that will be
valuable to you. We want you to tell us what data you want this app to
store and what features to build.
By
recording data you will have the opportunity to contribute to scientific
research: we intend to use the app as a reporting platform for a Citizen
Science project starting in 2015. The data collected will help us
to improve fishery and fish health management, monitor changes in
biodiversity and impacts of fish diseases, non-native species and climate
change. To do this we need to know what data you regularly collect and
what you’d be willing to share with us.
