Wye & Usk Foundation News Update

Annual Meeting, Friday 24th October at 6.30pm

We do hope you can make it to our Annual Meeting on Friday at the Three Counties Hotel in Hereford. While we can communicate and explain what we are doing in newsletters, e-news and via the website, nothing beats face to face presentations and site visits. Of great importance to both rivers, owners and anglers are the changes to the abstraction licences and how water will in the future be managed more effectively to the benefit of migrating salmon and other species of fish.
We are finishing the largest fish pass that WUF has ever undertaken on the Lugg as I write. This will allow fish to ascend well up river and re-populate the relatively 'empty' (of salmon) habitat upstream. It will also benefit the Lugg and Arrow's trout stocks.
The farm pollution work is working! We need to tell you how and also what we plan for the future.
The Nick Brabner Autumn River Walk is on Sunday 23rd November. There will be buses from Talgarth car park to both the Wye and Usk to see fish spawning, ascending weirs & fish passes and the work WUF has been carrying out.
For both events, please contact 01874 712 074 or admin@wyeuskfoundation.org
All the best from WUF.
Our Annual Meeting is where we tell you what we've been doing during the past year, where we've been doing it, and (below), with what results.
Electro fishing: monitoring the results

Shouldn't comment on this really but there is plenty of empty habitat without this work on the Lugg. the things that's missing is of course fish.
Still the farm pollution plan is working - well of course it is.!
