As expected conditions were poor everywhere today with even the upper beats out of order.  Colour was really bad in most areas though is clearing now on the uppermost beats.  Still too much water on for most areas though and it will take several days to settle sufficiently on all but the beat above Builth Wells and anywhere below Hereford it will take longer still.
Don't know if anyone did chance their arm today but they must have been the eternal optimist if they did..

Many people ask what fly to use.  Usually the one you have faith in, that looks good to you or the one that's on your line at the time.
Was doing a batch of flies today for someone and with a bit of debris on the fly tying table came up with these two to use up the bits.
Plenty of sparkle a dual coloured wing, jungle cock and a turbo disc (discs 69p each -is someone kidding)?
One on a 1" brass tube another on a small heavy bottle tube.  Be happy to use either myself this time of year with an intermediate of fast sink tip line.

Better days ahead though for sure with more settled weather forecast.  Probably get a really cold snap next though!.
