Yet another major damaging spate in progress throughout the Wye valley
No fishing on opening day that's for sure and probably none for a few weeks on the lower river, and that's with out and more rain!

Found this in my files.  Not sure if it was ever printed. As a wish list it might be useful if those responsible get off their backsides sometime soon.

11.         Demand an efficient and qualified NRW Fishery Dept.and insist they carry out the duties
ttthey are charged with.

22.       Make a concerted effort to involve all parties in, in particular WSA and ordinary fishermen ,in river restoration including getting WUF and the owners to acknowledge the seriousness of the situation.   If they won’t then replace WUF CEO and the monkey on his back with other qualified staff

33.       Involve the Game Conservancy , Atlantic Salmon Trust and any other organisation who might help.

44.       Survey the catchment to properly assess juvenile stocks and where lacking carry out stocking with fry or parr.

55.       Rejuvenate the SNR pond project on a bigger scale.

66.       Insist on better licence control for Febs and reduce to a minimum

77       Peer  review some of the completed WUF projects to access actual results and continue them where appropriate.

8.8      Put pressure on water authorities to reduce sewage discharges and also reduce phosphates

9.9     Try to eliminate or seriously reduce barbel from the upper spawning catchment ie above Glasbury
110.   Eliminate/decrease  American signal crayfish especially on the Lugg and Arrow or wherever they appear. (Unlikely I agree.)

111.   More testing of water quality especially below sewage outfalls or other areas of point pollution on a regular basis
.
112.   Assess the impact of Chicken sheds and free range enterprises plus the spreading of that waste on land near water sources and also slurry spreading and bio waste

113.   Discourage catch and release of the larger sized trout.

114.   Asses  the impact, if any of catch and release. Perhaps tag returned fish, or at least some, to assess survival rates
