With more settled river conditions now still no reports of any real spawning activity with no reports of any redds being seen in any quantity.  No reports of dead kelts which at onwe time littered the river from top to bottom.  Many surviving kelts will have left the river by the time our season starts so that indication is no longer available.  IN FACT WE HAVE NO IDEA WHATSOEVER AS TO WHAT SORT OF SPAWNING YEAR IT HAS BEEN..
Rod catches are unreliable indicators but spawning activity is often more reliable.   In many peoples opinion this has been a very poor spawning season to say the least.  However we may be told otherwise as is often the case as indicated in this sentence;

",However, there is always a danger that statements, if repeated often enough, become accepted as true."

Taken from the WUF site in their response to the recent canoe body efforts for full access in England
