LATEST.  I see on FFF one 'Barby' ie. Ian Spalding is casting doubt on the veracity of my report on the beaver found recently on an Erwood tributary.   I am not in the habit of spreading false rumours for whatever reason nor to tell a lie if I know it to be one.
As for no photograph although he may find it hard to believe not everyone has a mobile phone or a video cameras strapped to he chest as he seems to have or the time or inclination to wander through the catchment spreading wisdom and ancient eccentric folk lore.   There will be a photograph but not at the moment for reasons which are non of his business.  When I get it I will expect an apology as I shove it somewhere unpleasant about his person.
He also posts a picture of the gorge at the bottom of the Bach Howey to suggest it would not be suitable for a beaver - him being an expert of course.  This gorge is only a small portion of the stream and it didn't stop it being one of the first streams impregnated by American Signal crayfish which have been there for years even when WUF built their hatchery on that stream. Someone put them in above the gorge Ian didn't they?.   Even now it is claimed there are no crayfish in the Wye below the falls which by any stretch of the imagination seems unlikely but may well be true unless someone can show otherwise..

Also  Seen on another forum site.  Does anyone else have any knowledge of this???????

"There may well be a colony of beavers by Llangors near the Usk. Millard's programme mentioned land owner Colin Preece, a quick search brings up"

LLangors Away Day - Hay, Brecon and Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees

20 Jul 2016 - After a long, leisurely dinner of multiple helpings of food and of conversations, some of us took a walk through the village to the Gilfach and its beaver sanctuary, led by the sanctuary's creator (and Chair of the Community Council) Colin Preece. Children squealed with delight as we encountered animals ... etc.

And another one.   Does he not have access to TV/radio weather forecasts, Computer, iphone or even  a landline phone.   Beggars belief really.  Decent day for a drive though!!!

Unfortunately the river had burst it's banks and was rising steady all day. Despite finding a few slacks no pike were to be had in the coffee-coloured water. Left at 2pm just before the river got to my car.
