Well at last something from WUF regarding the dire situation we, and the fish are in.  See below;

9th Aug 2022 : The water temperatures in the main Usk below Crickhowell and Wye below Builth Wells are currently above the safe levels for fishing salmonids and the daily air temperatures in the WUF region are continuing to increase this week through the weekend. Therefore, the fishing for salmonids (and pike) on the River Usk below Crickhowell and Wye below Builth Wells is to be closed as of midnight tonight, 9 August 2022, through midday Friday 19th August 2022 next week.  During this period, river temperatures will be monitored daily by the WUF team and if it is felt that they have dropped into a safe zone (18 degrees and below) and that the reduced water levels are not further stressing the fish population, we may revisit the decision to keep the fisheries closed. Equally, if the waters have not reduced in temperature to safe levels for salmonids this closure may be extended. Thank you for your help in safeguarding our rivers.

Numbers of dead salmon are being reported now and again right  down into the Severn estuary.   Coarse fisherman seem to still be operating and at least a couple of barbel, one about 12lbs have also been seen so they need to be very careful too.   A dangerous time!!!!!.
