Report from the Severn indicate that a couple of springers have been hooked and lost at Diglis and Lincombe weirs with a 20lb fish seen in the fish pass at Diglis.   Some early fish about then  then -perhaps here too with luck.

Heard of a couple of people who have been approached by the fund raising company on behalf of WUF funding.    Seems they were asking for £20 per months to, as they put it, cure pollution.   Best say no more.!!!

                                TENCH.

I like tench, Good looking fish and strong fighters.  Not much about in any of the lakes near me when I was young.  Very odd one from the canal but that was a rarity.

Years later a friend told me he had permission to fish a private lake near Great Whitley in Worcestershire.

He got me permission too and we went there one early morning having been told it was rarely fished but there were reports of carp and tench being present.  Well we got there at dawn as you needed too with tench and set up.   To cut a long story short I had 25 tench by midday om breakflake and nothing else.   The fish were about 3lbs or so. Nothing remarkable in that either other than we were unable to detect and ounce or two between any of them and they all looked like peas in a pod.  They are of course shoal fish and it seemed these had perhaps spent their lives together since being hatched.

There were another two day tickets lakes near great Whitley too, again with reports of carp and tench present  One afternoon I went for an evening session hoping to fish until dark.  I mixed up some particularly sticky ground bait and deposited it in my swim some way out.   I washed and wiped my hands only to discover with horror that my wedding ring was missing.  I couldn't find it and realised I had probably thrown it into the lake thanks to the ultra sticky groundbait.

Didn't go down too well with my wife but all's well that ends well as they say.\Nothing surprised her where fishing was concerned thankfully.
