This has been apparent for many years now. What goes to the sewage works does not get filtered out to any degree regarding harmful chemicals. Not going to end in the short term either. Climate change- No - earths demise will be its rivers and seas poisoned by ourselves. Why can't those in power see it.???
LAKE NASSER
.My son and I and two friends were on a five day trip to Lake Nasser, Egypt supposedly fishing for Nile Perch. More of that another time perhaps. On this occasion there were two trolling boats and a mother ship which anchored up in bays around the lake for the night. There were decent bunks on the trolling boats which we slept on. I heard there were catfish in the lake so I asked the cook if he had any spare fresh meat and he gave me part of a sheep's heart if I remember right, I found a big hookput it on my 10 foot rod and a multiplier with 35lb line fitted. I tossed it overboard and put the reel in free spool with the clicker check on.
I lay there listening to my sons snoring and I almost dropped off myself when I hear the drag check sounding slowly. I picked up the rods and line was slowly peeling off the spool. I eventually set the hook and something powerful set off into the lake. Well everyone was roused and friends from the other boat nearby came on board and after a considerable struggle I got the beast to the boat, It was a catfish alright with a mouth like a man trap and long whickers everywhere. My friend dealt with it and we decided to let it go having safely removed the hook. Not sure how big it was but perhaps not that big as catfish grow. We estimated it at about 50 pounds.
Later that week, in another bay where hoards of frogs/ toads croaked away and kept us awake most of the night I had another take from a catfish. This time it was like hooking a runaway bullock and I never really had a chance. When I tried to stop it it simply broke me. My own fault really but it was an experience alright.
