With the New Year upon us now I wonder what’s on your bucket list for 2022

Here’s some of mine.

For the Government to properly fund the NRW/EA

For the NRW to fulfil its legal obligations in regard the Wye SAC in all respects and to employ people capable of doing their job.

Disband the Wye Conservators as it seems to me they are merely a funding channel for WUF.

For the Wye Owners to come together, reform their own organization and fight their corner regarding the degradation of their salmon fishery assets and take legal action if necessary for loss of income and amenity, rather than simply funding someone else to do the job-badly.

For EA to take proper control and regulate the navigation in a responsible way and make other river users pay their corner.

For the WUF trustees to take some responsibility for the direction they have steered WUF over the years. i.e up a blind alley and face the reality of just where we are.

For WUF to take a long hard look at itself, survey the debris of the past 25 plus years and seek a new approach backed up with some new expertise in the field of fishery management.   Get rid of the dead wood and ensure more money is spent where it’s needed rather than multiple wage earners who contribute very little it seems to me..

Pursue in any way possible Welsh Water and other polluters who have degraded the river  to its present sad deplorable  state. Surely there must be recourse to legal action somewhere along the line.

Join the WSA.

Make sure all bodies with an interest in the river come together to mount a challenge the authorities cannot ignore.  If they do then seek to employ a legal eagle who might be able to pursue them.
