Well a few hot days are still forecast it seems so lets hope its shortlived without causing any further damage.

We sometimes despair at the EA?NRW and assume they have little money to help address all the problems we face.   So the EA decided that the shad need some help up the Severn weirs despite the fact they have managed fairly well for heavens know how long.   Every species at risk needs saving but surely the shad is somewhat low down on most peoples priorities.  Not the EA apparently.

Apart from the multi million poud Diglis fish pass they are now building anothe massive structure at Holt Fleet weir.  I spent many a day their in my early coarse fishing life making the trip on my bike from near Bromsgrove.   It now looks horrendous -see below.  Who knows whether the salmon or shad will, actually use it.    Money could have been better spent? You can say that again.   Lets hope there is not a big spate in the offing otherwise most of it will end up downstream!

Thanks to Terry Boulton for the pictures
