A little more water on the upper river again which should enable any fish to reach their desired spawning areas and with quite a sharp overnight frost it should prompt them to get in the right mood.  Observation look better next week with drier weather though whether anyone attempts a proper redd count these days is debatable.

Be interesting to see if there is much spawning activity on the Lugg above the new Ballsgate weir or whether it will be another white elephant with no fish available to use it to any greater extent over and above that which  did in the past.  It was accessible anyway under the right water conditions but no doubt it will be hailed a success but whether it justifies the huge cost is debatable.

Seems to be les Cormorants and Gooseanders on the upper river at present possible due to the heavy colour recently but no doubt the cormorants in particular will switch easily to the nearby reservoirs
