The one below is a 12lb fish taken from the Usk today in the Isca water by Andrew Llewelyn on a cascade
Seems that mullet are not uncatchable by any means, see below sent in by a friend;
Geoff, one of the best afternoons fishing that I‘ve ever had was on the Taf estuary. There was a bit of fresh water coming down the river and just on the end of the ebb tide . A run which I had gone to spin for Bass in was ˋ bouncing ‘ with mullet munching on a prolific swarm of Hawthorn flies being blown onto the water. Not having a fly rod With me I started spinning with a 7g toby. After losing the Toby a small Dexter wedge was just as effective. To cut a long story short I caught 16 mullet up to about 5lb. Fantastic sport! As you know they don’t call them the British Bonefish for no reason.Re mullet,
Have had them on fly after seeing them feeding on the Hawthorns. A Knotted Midge is good for them also Diawl Bach, I was tying a Diawl Bach with polythene wrapped over a fat body to try and look like a sand hopper. It did the trick.
