River dropped a few inches overnight and clearing. Fine mild day forecast.
Must be a fish today from somewhere. Spreadeagle still favourite in my book.
LATEST.
Report of a 14lb fish from Ingeston yesterday on fly..
One lost on Whitney beat - another seen locally.
19lb fish from Ross to Jon Daniels. SHFC
River clearing well on the middle river too now.
On the downside and a rumour that strikes at the heart of Wye salmon fishers is the fact that a well known middle river beat is to close its door to salmon anglers after the start of the coarse fishing season on June 16th. Coarse fishing is more lucrative apparently. Many other owners I suspect are thinking along the same lines as the barbelisation of the Wye continues apace. Just contact WUF if you want caorse fishermen on your beats. I suspect they too get more from booking fees for coarse fishermen than the income from salmon anglers. I will verify this shortly.
n.b. Clarification on the above. This will not take effect until next season apparently/ More details then.
