There are singles, doubles, trebles and various well known patterns of salmon flies.. Then there are these 'Flies' for use in Norway. Up to 7" long with half an Arctic fox tail and Goat hair!!!! I don't want to do them again!!

Its WUF again. Millions spent but still in need of funding to support its huge wage bill -that's before it can do anything constructive.
Mind you I am thinking of bidding for the canoe trip on offer!!!

WUF News Update

November, 2016
Fundraising Auction
We're
delighted to announce that our first Fundraising Auction was launched at
our annual meeting on Friday night. We are now accepting bids for some
fantastic lots, ranging from career coaching to stays in wonderful holiday
cottages and, of course, plenty of fishing!
The
money raised will go towards the Foundation's Endowment Fund, set up
earlier this year to provide long term core funding for the organisation.
This will enable WUF to spend less time and resources on fund raising and
more on delivering projects that restore the ecology and fisheries of the
Wye and Usk.
The
bidding closes on 23rd December, in time for delivery of your auction win
as a Christmas present! To view the lots, make a bid or even donate a lot
yourself, please click here.
Thank you for taking part and happy bidding!
Otherwise,
we were very pleased to see a good attendance at the annual meeting and our
thanks to everyone who came along.
Farm Walk
On
Sunday we held a Farm & River Walk at Caradoc Court, kindly hosted by
WUF Trustee Patrick Darling and supported by guest speaker Andrew Goodinson
from Hutchinsons, who is the agronomist for the farm. The main purpose of
the walk was to demonstrate how farming practices in Herefordshire are
changing and how these changes will, amongst other things, help offset
climate change, improve our rivers' ecology and benefit a range of fish
species.
It was
an excellent day and many thanks to all those that attended. We look
forward to organising similar events next year and thoroughly recommend
them to anyone who wants to know more about the relationship between
agriculture and fish stocks.
Wild Stream Volunteers
Following
an almost complete wash-out last winter, the Wild Stream volunteers will
soon be heading out to start their winter clearance work on the
tributaries....providing the dry weather holds!
In
addition to the roaming teams, this year we are also looking for volunteers
who might "adopt a beat", taking responsibility for one that they
particularly enjoy fishing or is close by. Please contact us on 01874 711
714 or by email on volunteers@wyeuskfoundation.org
for more information if you are interested in this or in joining the
roaming teams.

The
fundraising auction includes, amongst other things, some great fishing on
exclusive beats such as Wyesham.
The
WUF farm walk was held on Sunday on the banks of the Wye at Caradoc.
How
long before they work it out?
Finally,
we are always happy to share examples of anglers' ingenuity. For some
months we have been receiving reports of anglers' cars being damaged at a
Wye fishery where a murder of crows have taken to ripping off wiper blades
and scratching paintwork. Paul Browning seems to have come up with the
solution, as shown in the photo above. We just hope it isn't too long
before the crows wise up!
All
the best from WUF.
