I hesitate to comment on the below Newsletter as to do it justice would probably result in a solicitors letter.
Having spent many millions of pounds 8/10 12 million who really knows, they still hold out the begging bowls even after you have snuffed it. Why not you won't be needing it though I though of course there is a £500,000 wage bill to service. Wonder how many black caps they will sell and who will be man enough to wear one.
As for volunteers -after years of disengagement especially with anglers they now appeal for help.
Redd counting and beat maintainace for heavens sake -owners seem to want it all ways.

Wye & Usk
Foundation Update
19th
December, 2014
For
interesting Christmas presents, and ones which will support the jewel of
our rivers too, we'd be thrilled if you, your friends and family would
consider the following. And do please forward this email to anyone whom you
think might be interested too!
A
limited edition print : Wild
Brown Trout of the Wye and the Usk by Humphrey Stanley priced at £75,
with £10 from each sale being donated to the Wye and Usk Foundation. This
limited edition print is from an original commissioned by Trustee Tony
Norman, whose fish were portrayed in the picture. Each fish from each river
has its tiny visual differences, carefully depicted in this beautiful
print. To obtain your print please send a £75 cheque with your address
details to: Humphrey Stanley, Blaisdon, Glewstone, Ross on
Wye, HR9 6AT. Please call him on 01989 770 760 or email him at humph.s@btinternet.com if you
would prefer to do an electronic payment by bank transfer.
A 2015
Wild Streams Season
Permit. Priced at & pound;75 (or £110 for a 2 rod
permit) a Wild Streams permit is valid for the whole year 2015 and
gives you access to the 60 or so trout and grayling beats participating in
the scheme. Please see here
for how they work or click here
to purchase one.
WUF
gift vouchers are priced
at £10, £20, or £50 each and come in any multiple of these figures. A
gift voucher can be used by the recipient to book Passport fishing at
any point through the year. Passport fishing is described here and
the scheme is one of the most delightful, economic and easiest ways to gain
access to fishing some of the best waters in the country. Please click here
to purchase a voucher. |
WUF
black caps are priced at £12 each, a dashing addition to a day
on the river. Click here to
purchase.
Meanwhile,
for those that have finished their Christmas shopping, could we suggest
some New Year resolutions?! How about becoming a supporter of
the Foundation? This brings the satisfaction and pride that
you are making a real difference to the habitat, conservation and
beauty of the Welsh border rivers and their local communities. Please click here
to make a donation.
You
could also leave a lasting legacy. By leaving money
to a favourite charity you can leave something very special for the future.
A legacy to the Foundation would ensure that your help to protect the
future of the rivers, their fish, and other wildlife continues beyond your
life time.
How
about doing some volunteering in 2015? We invite you, your
families and friends to join us on the glorious river banks of the Welsh
borders carrying out a range of important and satisfying activities. These
include redd counting, litter picking, beat maintenance, running a Riverfly
group etc. If you are interested, please complete the form here.
And
lastly, WUF offices will be closing on Christmas Eve and reopening on
Friday 2nd January.
Wishing
you the very best for the season, and for a wonderful 2015.
From all
of us at The Wye and Usk Foundation. |
