With no back up water from the Elan dams the upper/middle river is dropping and clearing well.
However heavy thundery showers are once again taking place in some areas - so prospects are tricky at the moment.

426 fish off the Tweed this week, at least those are just those recorded, yet someone tells us we are not doing so badly here on the Wye in comparison!   all about percentages apparently.

Local angler fishing above Hay had a bit of a shock yesterday when he failed to notice a group of Cormorants feeding as they came downstream through some fast water.  When they suddenly saw him they all took off in a hurry and as the sky went black he counted at least 40 birds as they disappeared into the distance. You can imagine the disturbance they made as they took off.   Makes you wonder just how much carnage took place amongst the fish stocks that particular day.
