Just a hint of rain, a few degrees lower but the status quo remains.
Interesting picture sent in this morning of an early morning Cormorant which met its demise somewhere on the middle Wye. Probably overindulged!
In it's crop were a salmon parr, five small barbel and a couple of minnows, notwithstanding its distended belly. Will try and get picture up later.
Some Wag, probably one Rigsby, will now tell us cormorants are good for keeping the barbel population down. Interestingly it's rare for anglers ever to catch such small barbel no matter what the method they are fishing. What it does show is exactly how well they continue to populate the river to the obvious detriment of other species and how the Cormorant will take advantage of whatever food source is available. No doubt it's diet would have been somewhat different had it been feeding somewhere above Glasbury on the upper river.
