Lets start the day off with a picture of a fish caught yesterday at Sheepwash.  A fine 14lb fish and a first salmon for angler Mike Allcock.Taken on a F/c. Congratulations and the first of many perhaps.

River dropped 6 inches overnight on upper river and the colour clearing somewhat. Middle river may well get some colour though some of its worst effects may well drop out on the way downstream..

Absolutely horrendous situation at Glasbury Bont this morning as canoeists virtually scrambles for places to launch.  Probably the most I have ever seen even on Bank Holiday weekends.  Upwards of at least a hundred canoeists, mostly school groups by the look of it so you can imagine the mayhem that will ensue. Sincerely hope they miss the tree in the river though with a couple of instructors for upwards of 20 canoes to control one might fear the worst.  Just how long will this be allowed to go on, especially in light of the recent defra statement on access.

By the Way the Hay festival starts tomorrow evening.  Anyone attempting to fish in this rea would be well advised not to bother unless very early in the morning. Heaven only knows what it will be like below Hay at any hour of the day for the next ten days.

LATEST.  River cleared amazingly quickly on the upper river above Moccas.  Now perfectly fishable.
