A better day yesterday at last. More fish in the 8-11lb range. Good conditions almost everywhere so it should continue.
2 more from Lysdinam yesterday. 6 and 15 lbs to Casper Bowes on fly. Also a 16lb fish to Ben Woods aged 10 from the Aber Pool.on a spinner. Well done to him.
Another one from the Nyth today 7lbs and one for Jim Hazeldine at Llangoed Pool, Llanstephan 16lbs.
A fish too for Wayne Tyler from his beat at Caemawr 12lbs on a cascade.
A 15lb fish this evening from Letton to Stuart Smith and another lost.
Interesting snippet from the recent WSFOA where it was stated - I don't know by whom but I can guess, that the upper Wye water quality had deteriorated recently and a big algae bloom might be expected when temperatures rise in late May. Strange, I thought all that was being done was improving water quality -at least that's what we are always being told.
Seems that the vote whether or not to object to the NRW proposal to close all hatcheries was a close run thing. After a presentation to object to the proposals by David Reville and an opposing presentation for the closure of all hatcheries put by Stephen Marsh Smith of WUF.the vote was tied with, one abstention.
Thanks to the Chairman Mike Timmis casting vote the motion not to object was carried thus unbelievably putting at risk the SNR project that they , and from the evidence most of their members, initially supported, as did WUF.
This meant that the motion to circulate the WSA objection, which many members had already signed, to all remaining WSFO members was not voted on.
Extraordinary stuff all right = who said democracy was alive and well!
