Some of you may not have seen the debates from the recent Conference in Glasgow -"Stocking. Is it the Answer or the Problem."

Long series of presentations by those for and against.

As far as  could see there were two types here.  Those who had hands on stocking experience and showed it could work - and those who made a career out of trying to knock it down without being able to show a single thing they had ever done to improve a salmon river themselves.

Make your own mind up but seek out the commonsense here and not the ifs, but's maybe from the likes of McGinnity for instance who has been at it for years, talks of an 'extinction vortex'but unable to identify one. Same for the genetic integrity arguement - no one can show a single incident as far as I could see.
As each river stytem is different generalities may not apply.  Why not take our advice from the hand on expert on our own rivers Dr John Taylor - who was not allowed to attend the Conference although Peter Gough EA did but said nothing!!!
