Following yesterdays idea to perhaps post some interesting, exciting, depressing fishing experiences several anglers responded.

I post the first on on the link below.   Interestingly it refers to a meeting with  the late Peter Grey who at the time was running the Tyne hatchery.   I was Chairman of the Wye Gillies Association at the time and contacted him to come and give a talk to Wye anglers regarding the Tyne's recovery which he did at the Three Counties Hotel  Hereford.  There was a good attendance including officials from EA and WUF.  Peter was accompanied by an EA official, Godfrey Williams was his name I think.
Like many others in the EA hierarchy he  stabbed Peter in the back and attempts made to marginalise his success. The events are well known.

I would say that for several decade RWGA tried to tell those in charge the problems affecting the Wye (sound familiar even now) and trying to co operate with them.   Mostly the EA were polite and seemingly listening except nothing really ever happen.  We tried to work with WUF at first but they mostly didn't like what we had to say They resorted to sneering and ignoring us and worse. Well mostly its CEO did.
And now we are where we are.  Exactly in the same situation as two decades ago and still no one is listening.    No idea what the solution is.  Do you??
