Yet another big spate going down the valley with yet more rain to come later today,

General Sir Thomas Pearson KCB, CBE, DSO died a few days ago.
A great loss to his family, the country and the river Wye.
See below on behalf of WSA to which I heartily concur.

John
Can I personally, and on behalf of all the members of Wye Salmon Association, extend our condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father. A gentleman and a true hero.
As I know very well from my all but brief contacts  with him at LFG meetings,  he was an enthusiastic, and skilled salmon angler, and instrumental with others such as Major General John Hopkinson in attempting the restoration of Wye salmon stocks.
He was enthusiastic in encouraging WSA efforts on the Wye and was a regular reader of  our newsletters, often hand writing letters seeking more information on the articles and WSA efforts and activities.
I well remember him rapping me on the shins with his walking stick at LFGs with the words ‘young man  [I was in my early sixties at the time], tell me what’s happening at WSA’ and from a conversation with you recently, even in failing health he still wanted to know what was happening on the river.
A great loss.
Once again John our condolences
Regards
Stuart Smith
For and on behalf of Wye Salmon Association
