Well all yesterdays efforts seem to have been in vain with nothing reported other than the suggestion of a fish from the Rectory and Llangoed.  Fish now seem to have really switched off with nothing much new coming in. A lot of resident fish are now heavily coloured.   Nothing looks likely to change in the short term.

Regular Wye anglers are only too aware of the canoe problem but many newcomers are not, Such as this one
Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Goodrich Court
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
"Another very frustrating day. Canoes everywhere, from the start of the day to the end of the day. A bit of a pointless experience, again."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However this one is totally uncalled for on an anglers first experience of the Wye,
"Today was a truly awful fishing experience.

"I arrived at the water (Lower Symonds Yat) at 05:30 in the hope of catching a salmon before any canoes arrived.

However, the padlock code supplied on the beat map wasn't accurate. So, I waited two hours before calling the name on the beat map to ask for the right code, a Mr Fisher. The call went to answer machine.

Another hour later I got an extremely rude phone call from Mr Fisher telling me I shouldn't have called him, that he was on holiday and that I should "just walk" if I couldn't open the gate.

I was polite at all times when speaking with him and apologised if I had in any way upset him by calling to ask for the correct code.

I subsequently sent a text to Mr Fisher saying that I was disappointed by his rudeness - and have just received another rude message back.

So, after the wrong code on the beat map, and three hours waiting I had missed the best of the fishing... and had been rudely told off in no uncertain terms by phone and by text. And all this for £47!!!

Suffice to say, I left the beat without fishing.

If this is what fishing the Wye for salmon has become... I think next time I'll head to Scotland. Really sad."

A sad tale indeed and not the first time Mr Fisher has behaved in this way.  Ok it was a bank holiday, it was 7.30am but to react
in such a way having taken the man's £47 is hardy professional behaviour in anyone's view I would have thought.   Let's hope we have no more of this sort of behaviour.
