A small rise in the river, around a foot or so with of course colour, is not much to get excited about as it makes its way downriver. May well perk up a few residents but not enough to have a dramatic effect I suspect though we may yet add a few more fish to this months pathetic total
WELL THE RISE WAS THERE -BLINK AND YOU MISSED IT.
Three fish reported/so far. One from the Nyth, 18lbs one from Wyesham and one from |llangoed

Please read and respond to the below article. Welsh government persists in its attempts to open access for all of Wales including our rivers to canoeist despite several failed attempts in the past.
Anglers need to be unified on this so please sign the CCW letter. Thanks.
Make
your voice heard over ‘right to roam’ proposals in Wales
Countryside Alliance
Chief Executive Tim Bonner writes: It may feel like groundhog day
to Welsh anglers, but having successfully made their case when an
access challenge was mounted by canoeists, the issue is back on the
political agenda just a few months after the last bout. Cabinet
Secretary Lesley Griffiths AM has launched a consultation “Taking
Forward Wales”, similar to a November 2016’s consultation “Taking
Wales Forward” (no, I’m not kidding). While the Welsh Government
seems to be running short of catchy titles for consultations, they
are also covering old ground, and Welsh taxpayers are yet again
footing the bill...

Ten
key questions on grouse shooting answered

season, which starts on 12th August, the Countryside Alliance
political team has sent a briefing note to MPs and Peers which
addresses some of the most frequently raised concerns about grouse
shooting. Grouse shooting and its associated moorland management
plays an essential role in managing, maintaining and protecting the
landscape and biodiversity of our uplands.

Deadline
approaches to register for fly fishing retreat
Casting for Recovery
UK & Ireland, the unique fly fishing therapy programme for
ladies with breast cancer, is delighted to be returning to Forbes
of Kingennie, the beautiful family-run resort at Broughty Ferry
near Dundee, and is accepting registrations until 3pm on Wednesday
26th July. Ladies who have (or have had) breast cancer are
welcome to apply. Good luck to ladies joining our Hampshire retreat
near Romsey this weekend – it will be our 40th retreat and it is
apt that it should take place in fly fishing’s home county. Read
more about the project in Ireland’s Woman’s Way
magazine.

The
future of the countryside is green
Today the Environment
Secretary, Michael Gove MP, spoke about the future of the
countryside when we leave the European Union and his hopes for a
“green Brexit”. In his speech Mr Gove outlined his vision for the
countryside and future ongoing support for farming. He recognised
that “seventy per cent of our land is farmed” and our “beautiful
landscape has not happened by accident” but is the result of active
management. Mr Gove made clear farmers will only get payments for
environmental goods and enhancing rural life.

Advanced Learning Centre, at Goldthorpe near Rotherham, enjoyed two

Support
our fundraising stars
Several supportive
cyclists have bravely taken on the challenge of a 100 mile cycle
from London to Surrey and back in the Prudential Ride London. The
ride takes place on 30th July following the 2012 Olympic course on
closed roads. The riders must complete the 100 mile course in under
eight hours and so this is a huge challenge. They will be raising
vital funds for Casting for Recovery and Fishing for
Schools. Good luck is also due to Casting for Recovery
volunteer nurse, Lottie Weston,
will be tackling the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise funds for
Casting for Recovery in October.
