Looks like a warmish day ahead but looks like we could be facing spate condition next week with rain forecast on most days.   Algae colour replaced with muddy colour - cant win really

Yesterday   Gromaine. 8lb fish to Mathew D.  His first.
Five fish reported from the Nyth over the weekend.  No other details.  said to be due to the small rise we had and claimed to be dam water though truth be told most of it came from Llangurig, uppermost part of the catchment.  That's where tomorrows rain is most likely to be it seems.

TODAY  16lb fish from Wyesham for Barry Warwick on a mepps  - now seemingly the artificial bait in vogue.  This despite the heavy algae stain
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A 50lb fish from Norway's river Orkla.

See below from a recent NRW publication and two observations from NRW fishery personal.
I wonder which one you think is right OR perhaps both of them are wrong!   Are either in the same universe.

PETER GOUGH
"Things are starting to get better, according to Peter Gough, principal fisheries advisor for NRW, who said: “Although stock levels continue to be a cause for concern, some Welsh rivers are showing positive signs.“We believe this is the result of a combination of earlier catch and release and other fishing controls.”‘Catch and release’ is a method of fishing where fish are caught and subsequently released unharmed."
DAVE MEE
"The number of fish, and salmon in particular, migrating into many Welsh rivers was worryingly low again last year,” added Mr Mee.
“We have seen very poor catches especially of summer grilse (salmon returning after their first winter at sea) for the past three years.
“Most anglers are already voluntarily releasing the fish they catch but we feel the situation is now so serious for salmon that we must ask all anglers to release all of their salmon."
