Thursday 11 May 2017

Well one from yesterday.  Lyn Cobley had a 12 fish from wyesham on fly.

Two were also rumoured to have been caught at Cadora -details unknown at present.

Two more from Wyesham also reported George Adams 12lbs and 10  Richard Thomas on fly.

Obviously a few new fish coming in but probably won't get much past Monmouth under the present conditions, perhaps a few as far as Ross.

Thunderstorms forecast for today and tomorrow.  Cue a lot of dirty water run off in some areas -none in others.  Often leads to a still low but very dirty river. Substantial prolonged rain is the only hope of upstream anglers with none forseable at present.

Latest.  Another from Wyesham to Gavin James.  8lb on f/c

Very little rain up near the top of the river so far.

Ye Gods a dry April.  One would think it's never happened before!!!!
Not long since we were hoping rivers would drop/ It's nature -isn't that what happenss?

Rivers dry up ... in May! It's vital the next PM makes water and land management a priority

With drought conditions already threatening parts of the South East of England, former Environment Minister Richard Benyon has led calls for a complete overhaul of the UK's outdated water abstraction regime.
Backed by farming and wildlife groups, Mr Benyon chaired a round table summit in the House of Commons organised by the Angling Trust and WWF-UK to examine possible solutions for better land and water management in order to reduce the impact of agriculture and abstraction on rivers and fisheries.
With just one in five rivers in England and Wales classed in good ecological health, and future opportunities and threats arising from the plans to leave the European Union, all participants agreed that it is vital that the new government takes leadership on water and land management early in the next Parliament.
