Excellent conditions remain in many areas now.   Beginning to look as though little has made it to the river above Erwood.  Fish remain difficult to locate and lower beats should soon start to produce unless there is more rain.    Stating the obvious really I suppose.

Another cracking Wye springer today from Winforton.  Again with a little drama to it.  Sitting at home waiting for the BBC news I had a call asking me to go to Winforton where a friend James Griffiths was into a fish with no net -his father being someway away down river.  I drove there poste haste to still find James attached to the fish although his father was by that time there with him..  Anyway I netted the fish for him and a terrific fresh fish it was.  A very deep top condition cock fish which I estimate was 25lbs plus.
What was even better from my point of view was the fact he was using a fly rod I had repaired a couple of weeks before when it snapped a few inches above the top section ferrule.  A dodgy place to be truthful but it stood the 40 minutes plus fight which was very satisfactory.  See picture below. ,which bent up in the net, doesn't really do it justice.

Taken on a fast sink line and a Posh  Tosh tube 1 1/2 brass tube.
Really should stop tying flies an get out there soon.myself.!!!
