I see speculation is already rife on the vasrious internet forums as to the prospects for opening day.
PRETTY MUCH A WASTE OF TIME WITH STILL OVER WEEK TO GO.
A WEEK IS A LONG TIME IN POLITICS SO THEY SAY - EVEN MORE SO TRY TO DETERMINE THE STATE OF THE WYE..
Very often the day before is no real guide as a downpour in the hill can wash you out overnight.
With more rain forecast on and off over the next week it seems certain the lower river will be out
but the rest, for now, can only be speculation. Lets hope the first fish is a 'proper'one this year though I suspect there will be some seriously big fish around this season judging by the condition of some springers already caught on other rivers - and they don't have the Wye big fish gene.
See on the Welsh news there is another pollution in Wales from slurry causing considerable fish deaths.
NRW wheeled out a young lady who looked as if she had just left school to explain " things are actually better since we started our new initiatives. However with three pollution incidents so close together it looks worse. Oh and the weather has been against us"
Isn't it always. To wet, too warm etc. etc.
Where's Afon Cymru in all this I wonder.
